SOPA Nominated for the Peace and Sport Awards 2011

Under the Special Jury Prize, in recognition of our Peace Beyond Borders documentary.

Peace Beyond Borders is a documentary covering a sports tournament and peace conference in the borderlands of Kenya, Sudan and Uganda.

Nomadic warriors in this region have been living at odds with each other for years. Cattle raiding and the search for water and grazing land frequently lead to violence ending in loss of human life. In this context sports offers a physical release and brings young warriors together to discuss their conflicts and to find possible solutions.

Utrecht Municipality Exchange

NSA, Oikos and the municipality of Utrecht in conjunction with Seeds of Peace Africa, have developed a proposal for an exchange visit of three to four Peace and Sports facilitators to the Netherlands scheduled for September this year.

Compassion Prize of the Dutch Charter on Compassion

Ambrose Ongwen, the founder of Seeds of Peace Africa, has won the coveted Compassion Prize of the Dutch Charter on Compassion at an even held on Thursday, April 5th 2012 at an event held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This recognition of our work will go a long way in creating strong partnerships that will help us further our mandate.

Trans Nzoia youth Sports Association (TYSA) is one of the Kenya Netherlands Sports for development partners (KNSDP) based in Sibanga Kitale county. the organization was founded and registered as a CBO in 2001. Seeds Of Peace Child Care, Early Childhood Education and Development Program (CCECED) is a nonprofit organization that offers a Whole Life, All day Learning and Education Program for children aged 1-5 years. We place the child at the center of our operations and work in close partnership with the family and the community. Our program observes national and international declarations on the Rights of the child.
