Welcome to Seeds of Peace Africa

Seeds of Peace Africa (SOPA) International is a Kenyan registered Non-governmental Organization with the NGO Board in the Ministry of National Heritage & Cultural Affairs. SOPA International was registered as an NGO in March, 2006 and issued with a legal certificate number OP.218/051/2006/0471/3899. However, prior to attaining the status of Non Governmental organisation, SOPA International has been operating as a Community based organization - CBO since 2002 in the slums of Nairobi (Korogocho).

Its mission is to facilitate the empowerment of children, young people and women through non-violent means, conflict transformation and peace education/training, research and analysis, counselling and networking in order for them to participate in building positive peace, sustainable development and respect for human dignity in realizing a just and friendly world.

SOPA International appreciates collective approach in contributing to the betterment of the selected target group through consultation, information sharing and implementation of programmes activities in partnerships with faith-based and community based organizations and also in collaboration with the local and national governments of the countries where programme activities are run.

SOPA Nominated for the Peace and Sport Awards 2011

Under the Special Jury Prize, in recognition of our Peace Beyond Borders documentary.

Peace Beyond Borders is a documentary covering a sports tournament and peace conference in the borderlands of Kenya, Sudan and Uganda.

Nomadic warriors in this region have been living at odds with each other for years. Cattle raiding and the search for water and grazing land frequently lead to violence ending in loss of human life. In this context sports offers a physical release and brings young warriors together to discuss their conflicts and to find possible solutions.

Utrecht Municipality Exchange

NSA, Oikos and the municipality of Utrecht in conjunction with Seeds of Peace Africa, have developed a proposal for an exchange visit of three to four Peace and Sports facilitators to the Netherlands scheduled for September this year.

Compassion Prize of the Dutch Charter on Compassion

Ambrose Ongwen, the founder of Seeds of Peace Africa, has won the coveted Compassion Prize of the Dutch Charter on Compassion at an even held on Thursday, April 5^th 2012 at an event held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This recognition of our work will go a long way in creating strong partnerships that will help us further our mandate.

TYSA awarded a vehicle

Trans Nzoia youth Sports Association (TYSA) is one of the Kenya Netherlands Sports for development partners (KNSDP) based in Sibanga Kitale county. the organization was founded and registered as a CBO in 2001. TYSA was awarded a vehicle courtesy of MIVA/One Men in collaboration with SOPA International.

IDENTITY:
Seeds Of Peace Child Care, Early Childhood Education and Development Program (CCECED) is a nonprofit organization that offers a Whole Life, All day Learning and Education Program for children aged 1-5 years. We place the child at the center of our operations and work in close partnership with the family and the community. Our program observes national and international declarations on the Rights of the child.
